Under a contract with NASA initiated in February 2000, Raytheon began working with several universities, state and local governments around the United States to explore the potential applications of satellite remote sensing for a variety of applications ranging from urban planning, water resource management to disaster management, natural resource management and precision agriculture.

Since then, "InfoMarts" for selected applications have been implemented to service the decisionmaking needs of State, Local, Regional, and Tribal government organizations. As the user community grows, efforts are underway to explore the self-sustainability of InfoMarts in the longer term.

In addition, Raytheon is pursuing enhancements to the EOSDIS Core System that are intended to facilitate end user access to data. The EOSDIS Core System is the gateway for users of remotely sensed data collected by NASA's Earth Science Enterprise and the Earth Observing System (EOS).
